Originally known as Home-O-Nize, the HON Company
came to Cedartown in 1969 as a fledgling producer of filing cabinets. In
38 years HON has experienced three plant expansions, the tornado of 1993
and an employee growth from 27 to over a thousand.
*TEXTILES AND FABRICS: FROM QUILTS TO
LACE
June 4 - August 30
A display of early to mid-twentieth century
needlework and handicrafts prevalent in Polk County. Besides quilts, spreads
and vintage clothing, the exhibit includes embroidery, crocheting, lace,
tatting and samples of applique and cross-stitch. The exhibit is dedicated
to local artist Polly Harrison who died in 2007. She not only used traditional
methods of weaving textiles, but recycled celluloid, used stamps, men's
ties and rubber strips into wall hangings and baskets, some adorned with
multicolored pet vaccination tags.
